Notably, Kurt served as the art critic for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review for 16 years and owned and operated Shaw Galleries, an art and antiques gallery on Liberty Avenue in Downtown Pittsburgh for 10 years. Kurt is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University’s College of Fine Arts (B.F.A. with honors, 1989). Kurt studied under the late Sam Gilliam, a pioneering American color field painter.
